Global Surgery Course
Oxford’s Global Surgery Group will deliver an intensive, in-person five day course at Kellogg College (60 – 62 Banbury Road). Designed for professionals and students across disciplines, the course explores global challenges in surgical, anaesthesia, and obstetric care, particularly in low and middle income countries.
Rather than focusing on technical procedures, the programme addresses systemic issues: burden of disease, workforce capacity, ethical considerations, health inequities, resource allocation, and partnership development. Through a blend of lectures, interactive seminars, small-group work, and a half-day practicum on preparing for surgical work in new settings, participants gain both theoretical insight and practical preparation. The teaching faculty is drawn from all four major surgical related departments at Oxford: Surgical Sciences, Orthopaedics & Rheumatology, Clinical Neurosciences, and Women’s & Reproductive Health.
