Pembroke College, St. Aldates, Oxford

The Evolution, Development and Representation (EvoDemo 2025) conference will be held from 22–24 September at Pembroke College, University of Oxford. This interdisciplinary gathering brings together scholars from evolutionary biology, developmental psychology, philosophy of science, and cognitive science to investigate how representational systems emerge, evolve, and interact across biological and cognitive domains.

Key elements of the programme include:

  • Keynote Lectures: Leading thinkers will address topics such as the evolution of cognitive representations, developmental systems theory, and the interplay between biological evolution and cultural transmission.
  • Paper Sessions: Parallel sessions for submitted papers and posters, fostering dialogue on themes like neural and psychological development, the origins of symbolic cognition, and formal models of representational change.
  • Roundtables & Workshops: Interactive discussions on methodological challenges in Evo–Devo research, the role of computational models, and interdisciplinary approaches to representation.
  • Networking Events: Informal receptions and college dinners at Pembroke College, offering opportunities for collaboration among established researchers and early-career scholars.

EvoDemo 2025 will provide a vibrant forum for exchanging cutting-edge research, forging new collaborations, and advancing our understanding of how development and evolution shape representational capacities in humans and other organisms.
