AGS Conference
The Association for German Studies (AGS) Conference, titled “The German World”, will be held at the University of Oxford from 1–3 September. Hosted by the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages, this major academic gathering invites scholars of German Studies from across the UK and internationally to explore the cultural, historical, linguistic, and literary dimensions of the German-speaking world.
The conference will include keynote lectures, academic panels, and roundtable discussions spanning a wide range of topics – from medieval to contemporary literature, film, translation, linguistics, and interdisciplinary approaches to German culture. The 2025 theme, “The German World”, encourages reflection on the global and transnational aspects of German language and culture, inviting contributions that rethink boundaries, identities, and connections within and beyond traditionally defined German-speaking regions. This conference provides a vibrant platform for scholarly exchange, professional networking, and fostering new research collaborations in the field of German Studies.
