2025 Crime Fiction Weekend: Detecting the Gothic: tales from the dark heart of crime fiction
The 2025 Crime Fiction Weekend at St Hilda’s College, Oxford, will take place from August 8–10. This year’s theme, “Detecting the Gothic: tales from the dark heart of crime fiction,” explores the enduring influence of Gothic elements in crime literature, from classics like The Woman in White to contemporary narratives.
Celebrating its 32nd year, the event features an impressive lineup of speakers, including Val McDermid as Guest of Honour, alongside authors such as Mick Herron, Olivia Isaac-Henry, Anna Mazzola, Stuart Neville, Ambrose Parry, William Ryan, Catherine Ryan Howard, Stuart Turton, Catriona Ward, Ruth Ware, and Louise Welsh. Attendees can look forward to engaging talks, discussions, and social events, all set within the picturesque riverside setting of St Hilda’s College.
