Iffley Meadows
One of the ‘wilder’ green spaces in central Oxford, Iffley Meadows are a ‘Site of Special Scientific Interest’ – featuring diverse plant and animal species. Each spring (approximately April-May) thousands of ‘snake’s head fritillaries’ bloom, covering the meadow in a blanket of purple flowers. The meadows are accessible to walkers and cyclists via Weirs Lane, or from the from the nearby Thames Path – a picturesque route, taking in houseboats, waterbirds, and rowers. If refreshments are desired, the nearby pub The Isis Farmhouse serves a variety of food and drink – with spacious indoor and outdoor seating (and dogs welcome).
