The Potting Shed is great – roomy, very well kitted out with everything you might need for a few nights’ stay, and super close to the town as well as a good jump off point to other parts of the cotswolds. The host was very helpful and we had a great stay

Emma’s place was wonderful. I was in Oxford for a conference and some research work and the shed was the perfect place to get some quiet time whilst having the best view of a beautiful garden. This was a very clean, spacious, and sunlit space, with great hospitality from both the host and the caretaker. Emma was very accommodating and helped out every time I had a question and/or request. The shed itself is cosy, opens out to a beautiful back garden and while it was a 15 minute walk from the main bus stop, Emma was kind enough to offer a bike for the entirety of my stay. I would highly recommend this lovely shed in Oxford and I hope to stay here again soon!

Lovely garden with pleasant views of fields. Walkable distance to town but also located at a private and quiet area. Emma is very friendly and responsive. Highly recommend and would definitely come back.

We stayed at The Potting Shed for 7 nights in June 2021 and really enjoyed our stay. The Potting Shed is small but had everything we needed. It has a well equipped kitchen, a sofa, TV, a table for two and a comfortable bedroom. The bathroom is tiny but the shower is good. It has parking and best of all is situated in a beautiful wild garden including a seating area set aside for the property. The owner, Emma, went out of her way to make us feel welcome providing bread, milk and eggs from her chickens on arrival as well as homemade treats during our visit. She was also very helpful with suggestions and tips for our time in Woodstock. It is such good value compared to other properties that we would thoroughly recommend it.

The Potting Shed is the real thing if you want to have a calm and cozy place to retreat. In the middle of the natural garden that Emma takes time to make it as wild as organized, it was a pleasure to live there during a month. Emma was of really good advice regarding things to do, to attend or to book for dinner. And she always had little attentions like bringing flowers to her guests or strawberries, which was appreciated a lot. Thank you for every thing Emma!

The Potting Shed was a really comfy and cosy space for a winter stay, with everything I needed, including a wood burner with logs. It’s a good 15 minute walk into town in the rain, probably fine in dry weather, but I always found somewhere to park the car in town. Great location, lovely cottage, excellent host.

The Potting Shed is a great location for visiting Blenheim, you can walk to it (but it does take 20 minutes) and it is easy to to get into Oxford by bus – we opted ro the park and ride. The accomodation is compact but comfortable and Amy, the host, is unbelievably helpful regarding local advise.

Wonderful intimate place with everything you need. Emma is a wonderful host, she’ll make your stay memorable. Huge beautiful garden which you can use during your stay, fully operational kitchen, comfy bed, small fire place with wood – there is nothing missing. Toilet and shower are a bit tiny, but it’s nothing compare to other pluses. Woodstock and Blenheim palace are just a few minutes away. Plenty of pubs and coffee shops. I would definitely stay in this place again if it is slightly cheaper.

We has a wonderful time staying at The Purple Potting Shed at The Retreat – a perfect location for visiting Blenheim Palace and Oxford.
A very comfortable and idyllic place to stay with all of the amenities and facilities we required.
A warm welcome from Jenny the owner, who ensured that our stay started well by supplying bread, butter, milk, eggs, orange juice and a bottle of wine!
We would rhighly ecommend this accommodation to other couples.

The Potting Shed is a homely little apartment in a lovely garden (with plenty of raspberries, plums and apples in late September). The location is very tranquil, yet a short walk into the centre of Woodstock and, from there, access to the Blenheim estate.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Potting Shed. It had everything I needed and is located in a safe, beautiful and quiet place. It feels very cozy, has a fully equipped kitchen, and has an amazing garden. The host, Emma, is brilliant; very kind, supportive and informative. If you don’t book this, you’re making a mistake.

This is an ideal location. Tucked away behind Woodstock but still close enough to wonder in and have a look around. You are so close to Blenheim Castle which is great to walk around each day. The host is very friendly, helpful and very welcoming. It is an ideal spot to travel around. Highly recommended.

Beautiful spot. The Potting Shed is a great idea. You are lucky enough to be in the beautiful garden with a few chickens roaming around. We stayed here for 5 nights and enjoyed the wood burner which kept us very warm at this time of year. Emma is a delightful host and left extras in the fridge which really helps when you’ve travelled for hours. I would love to come back and stay in the summer. Thank you.

The Potting Shed is a fabulous place to stay. It’s quaint and homely and the hosts are very welcoming and helpful. It’s within easy walking distance to the town with good bus links to Oxford. There are heaps of places to choose from to eat in town but we chose to use the fully equipped kitchen to self-cater. The garden is beautiful and the chickens are an added attraction. Other than the bathroom being very small, this is a great place and I would highly recommend it.

This was a dream come true, words do not express our joy and happiness. We are over extremely happy with the cleanliness, proximity of accommodation to nearby attraction such as Blenheim Palace, family are incredible kind & can not do enough. In terms of service and tips, this is number one in the UK. The family should be running a small hotel, very polite and courteous to guests. The chickens in the garden was such a pleasure to live around, not many places you can be surrounded with such incredible nature and wildlife. We can’t wait to return, if you see this home – book ASAP, you will never find a home like it in Oxford. Dreams can’t picture this setting, you can only live it.

My brother and I wanted a base to explore some places around the Cotswolds and the Potting Shed was perfect. Quiet, clean, great location and lots of thoughtful touches. Emma was a great host and offered to lend us bikes, in addition to leaving juice, bread, milk, wine and butter for us upon arrival. There were leaflets left at the property, which helped us plan our time. Should it help anyone, we stayed for five days (four nights), and visited the following: Stratford-upon-Avon, Woodstock and Blenheim Palace, Oxford, villages in the Cotswolds and Bletchley Park. Woodstock and Blenheim Palace are within walking distance, and it is also possible to get a bus into Oxford very easily from the property. In other words, this property is a great central location for exploring the nearby areas, in addition to Woodstock itself. Thank you Short Let Space, we really enjoyed our stay.

The Potting Shed is a cosy stay, small but not cramped, it is comfortable and beautifully decorated. the kitchen is well set up and we enjoyed the wood burning stove. The Wi-Fi was good.

Emma is very friendly and helpful – offered the use of a bike, and invited us to help ourselves to apples, quinces and herbs from the (lovely) garden! we also appreciated that there was juice, milk, butter, bread, eggs and wine waiting… really nice not to have to run straight out to the shop.

The Potting Shed is in a pretty spot on the edge of Woodstock – ten mins into the village where there’s shops and pubs etc, and you can get a bus into Oxford. We were there as my partner was working nearby; might feel a bit far out if you just wanted to visit Oxford/didn’t have a car.
