Peaceful village stay close to main sights.
We booked last minute and didn’t expect to find anything too flash last minute over the Bank Holiday weekend but Dairy Lodge was an unexpected gem. A lovely, roomy 2 bedroom stone cottage with a big kitchen and living area, outdoor seating area and back garden, it was spotless, stylish and comfortable in every way. It’s self contained so we were able to cook 2 nights. The village itself is an historical must-see for anyone interested in the Churchills and the Dukes of Marlborough being the resting place at St Martin’s Church of Winston, his family and various Dukes of Marlborough. The village of Bladon is also an easy walk by road or through Blenheim Park to the Palace and the little town of Woodstock with its cafes, pubs and shops. Bladon is also a central jump off point by car to the Cotswolds generally, the park and drive for Oxford and Hanborough train station for the train from London. We were sorry to say goodbye to Dairy Lodge and would stay again. Highly recommended.
I stayed at the Dairy Lodge in between house moves with my three children and it couldn’t have been the nicer. Beautiful place, beautiful setting and the owners were lovely. They had dogs and were more than happy for my animal mad girls to play with them! They also brought us chocolates on the first night, so kind. The lodge was clean, with everything you require for the stay. If you have never been to that area before, it is gorgeous, lovely walks and a short distance into beautiful Woodstock. I would wholeheartedly recommend this listing and might even escape with my husband for quiet weekend away soon!
Amazing location, cosy and perfect for our family.
ThomasThis property is located af the edge of the quiet village of Bladon, overlooking a field. An excellent location to visit Oxford, Blenheim and the cotswolds. In the morning the sun lights up the garden and back of the house, while in the evening the sunlight comes through the kitchen windows. It is very rich in atmosphere. The place is brand new. And very spacious and comfortable. It comes fully equipped. It’s very clean. The beds are large enough for tall people and sleep comfortable. It’s easy to leave daily life behind and feel you actually live in the English countryside. What makes it have ‘heart’ though is the friendly owners who make you feel welcome and at home. And will help you out with finding the gems in the neighborhood. All in all: we really look forward to our next stay!
Erwin WeissWe had a splendid week at this beautiful well-equipped house with lovely views over the fields. The house is located in Bladon, a lovely peaceful village, with Blenheim Palace just a short walk away and Oxford within easy reach.
