The Neighbourhood

Southrop village in Gloucestershire is skirted by the river Leach and is close to historic Lechlade-on-Thames. It is one of the rare unspoiled villages of The Cotswolds and a delight to stay in. There are many listed buildings in this ancient village. The church of St Peters was built in c1100 replacing an earlier Saxon church and Culls cottage itself dates from c1670 and is an historic listed building. Mr Cull who the cottage is named after, was the village cobbler.

The Swan pub is just a short walk from Culls Cottage and serves fantastic food, much of it sourced locally. There is also a restaurant The Ox Barn, Cookery school and Spa at Thyme in the centre of the village.

The Village Hall has regular events and an Annual summer Village Fete and open gardens weekend. Enjoy a walk over the fields to the nearby village of Eastleach with a quick drink at The Victoria pub and back along the banks of the Leach.
