Tolsey Museum
The Tolsey Museum is housed in the early Tudor market building on the High Street in Burford. Within the museum is a wide-ranging collection that illustrates Burford’s social and working culture, including the town maces, seals and charters.
Exhibits quaintly recall the trades that flourished here – quarrying, bell-founding, rope-making, brewing, farming, leather-working and clarinet-making.
There is also a famous doll’s house, furnished in the style of the Jane Austen period. The Tolsey Museum also has a large photographic collection, a sample of which is on display in the Museum.
