Royal Hampshire Regiment Museum
The Museum of the Royal Hampshire Regiment tells the story of the county infantry regiment for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
It traces its history back to 1702 when it was formed as Meredith’s Own, until its amalgamation with the Queen’s Regiment in 1992 to form the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment (Queens and Royal Hampshire’s). In this museum you will find a selection of uniforms, weapons, personal artefacts, and a selection of medals.
The Memorial Garden in front of Serle’s House and the museum is the focus of the Regiment’s remembrance for all its Fallen and services are held there on special days. With the help of a grant in 2014 from the Heritage Lottery Fund the museum was completely refurbished.
Entrance to the museum is free though donations are welcome. It’s the perfect day out to learn more about Winchester‘s part in the Royal Hampshire Regiment.
