The Hospital of St Cross
This former 1132 hospital buildings with rich history and a gift shop in a porter’s lodge, plus a beamed tearoom.
The Hospital was founded to support thirteen poor men, so frail that they were unable to work, and to feed one hundred men at the gates each day. The thirteen men became the Brothers of St Cross. Then, as now, they were not monks. St Cross is not a monastery but a secular foundation.
Serving as a venue for weddings, baptisms and concerts. The hospital has also been the location for film and media productions through the years including Wolf Hall, Songs of Praise and River Walks.
