Cotswold Wildlife Park
The Cotswold Wildlife Park is a fantastic and much-loved attraction in the Cotswolds. The stunning gardens and themed borders, make a beautiful backdrop for the animal. With over 260 different species of animals in over 120 acres of parkland, there’s plenty of space to relax and get closer to wildlife! Take a stroll around the park and discover what animals lie in waiting.
Get eye-to-eye with giraffes, watch rhinos graze on the Gothic manor house lawns, take a walk with the lemurs, and finish it all up with a ride on Bella the train. There really is something here for everyone. If the animals weren’t enough, kids of all ages will love the adventure playground in the woods with interconnecting tree houses, rope bridges and slides.
For penguin lovers, be sure to check out the daily penguin feed and talk at 11 am and 3 pm. Lemur lovers can enjoy watching the Lemur feed and talk at 12 noon in their walk-through enclosure, and if you’re lucky and ask nicely, the keepers may let you give them food too, although no promises can be made from us. Whatever animals you love most, there’s plenty to see and you never know you may just fall in love with some you’ve never heard of.
The Cotswold Wildlife Park has one of the largest reptile collections in the UK which include crocodiles, lizards, frogs, and snakes. Take a walk on the wild side and discover many other indoor exhibits too including the Insect House, the Bat House, Little Africa and the Tropical House with free-roaming sloths, bats and birds. It’s the perfect pick-me-up on a rainy day.
During the warmer months, tree ferns by the train station give the feel of a rainforest, and the arid beds of cacti and succulents in the Old Walled Garden evoke the natural habitat of the meerkats. Swathes of ornamental grasses and perennials enfold the rhino paddock whilst traditional herbaceous borders, spectacular specimen trees and spacious manicured lawns surround the manor house.
No matter the season though the gardens and the park look stunning. Once you’ve done some exploring take a pitstop in the onsite cafe or bring along a picnic to enjoy in the garden and refill your bellies ready for more exploring.
