Chedworth Roman Villa

Chedworth Roman Villa is arguably one of the grandest Roman Villas in Great Britain and it’s cradled in a beautiful Cotswold valley. The Villa’s history dates back almost 2,000 years to when it was a place of wealth, luxury, and comfort. It was rediscovered by the Victorians over 150 years ago and it provides a unique insight into life during the Roman period in Britain. The modern conservation building gives access to extensive mosaic floors, hypocaust systems, and bathhouse rooms.

Ran by the National Trust, Chedworth Roman Villa is a sight to behold and the small museum houses a range of artefacts and finds from the villa as it was uncovered. As well as its history, its tranquil setting, idyllic views, and rich wildlife haven give plenty of opportunities for picnics, walks, relaxation, and reflection. The onsite cafe allows you to treat yourself to something delicious whilst the shop offers plenty of Roman-themed souvenirs.

It’s the perfect example of British history and well worth the visit during your stay in the Cotswolds.
